(Physician/MD qualifications required) Emergency Medicine - 65-bed acute care hospital in Caribou, Maine.
Well known for its patient-centered services, the hospital and its staff have won numerous state and national awards for quality in both customer service and clinical performance
Services include: general surgery, pediatrics, 24-hour emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, physical and occupational therapy, one day surgery, family practice, sports medicine, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, internal medicine, urology, radiology, pathology, and a wide variety of specialty clinics.

Hospital has all private patient rooms and recently completed more than a million dollars in renovations to its acute care unit
Additionally, on the hospitals campus is a 40-bed long term care facility and a 30-bed residential care facility operated by the Maine Veterans Home.


Physician Emergency Room
Full time position

Emergency Room Physician to work in its 24-hour ED which sees about 16,000 visits per year, including the Walk-In Clinic.
The ED is a Level II trauma center, and sees a wide variety of cases; however, head and neck cases are transported to a tertiary center
Department has one trauma room and 11 exam rooms; two Walk-In Care rooms with easy access to all diagnostic testing needs.
Although patients are seen in order of severity of illness, a PA or Nurse Practitioner in the Walk-In Clinic may see patients with less urgent needs.
The ER physicians typically develop their own shifts, and generally work three shifts one week and four the next
Currently, there are three full-time, board certified ER physicians on staff
3 ER Physicians have been at hospital from 5 to 25 years
Many of the ER patients are elderly with cardiac and respiratory complaints along with the expected primary care and emergent care visits
The hospital will pay a portion of the health insurance for the physician and will pay the full amount of malpractice insurance
Additionally, the hospital will pay up to $600|year for licensing and subscriptions for their practice
The candidate will receive six weeks for vacation, CME, sick and holiday time to be used on an annual basis. The hospital will also provide CME of up to $2,500 per year and relocation assistance
Education loan repayment is paid in six-month increments and is typically spread out over five years.
Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine or board certified or board eligible with a primary care board and ER experience.
HIB and J1 Visa candidates will be considered.
